Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the most frequently asked questions about Doula services provided by Mothering Mothers.
What’s a doula?
A doula is a non-medical professional who assists a woman during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. The word “doula” comes from the Greek and means “a woman who serves.” For more details, check out this post on my blog.
Do you only attend “natural” (non-medicated) births?
No. If you want a non-medicated birth, that’s certainly something I will help you work towards. But if you want an epidural/pain medication, a planned cesarean, or just want to decide when you get there, I’m more than happy to help you achieve that goal, too.
Do you “deliver” babies?
No, a doula does not replace an obstetrician, midwife, or nurse. Doula is not a medical professional and doesn’t perform any clinical tasks such as catching the baby, cervical checks, etc. A doula is there for informational, emotional, and practical physical support.
What area do you serve?
I am located in Delhi but I provide both in person and Virtual labor doula services as well.
